Pre-school,
Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten
In our preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
programs, we offer a number of activities that encourage the children
to learn through trial and error, cause and effect and by making
predictions. We encourage children to be creative and use their
imaginations. We believe children learn through play and it is
the process that is important, not the product. We promote children's
interest in the classroom. We provide many literacy activities
through books, songs, puppets, finger plays and dramatic play.
Outside, we challenge children's gross motor skills through free
play activities, as well as, teacher-supported games.
Our three year old class is called the marching
Ants. In this group, we encourage the children to explore their
fantasy world through pretend play in the family life center,
block area and through art experiences.
Our four year old Pre-Kindergarten class, also
called the Leap Frogs, focus on experimenting and manipulating
their environment in various learning areas. We use the Rhode
Island Early Learning Standards as a resource when planning our
goals for our Pre-Kindergarten children.
As our children enter Kindergarten, we
offer them activities and lessons planned to meet the needs of
a variety of learning styles in a literacy rich environment. We
strive to meet the children's social and emotional, language development
and physical needs, as well as, providing the opportunity to develop
mathematic, science, creativity and literacy skills appropriate
to this age group.
